[ cheers ] >> yeah. if any of you have seen the movie, you'll know how this ends. it wasn't -- i got fired from that movie -- i got hired last minute. they said they were -- i read the script, and i said, "there's not part in there for me." i don't understand why they're giving to me. they said, well, they want clooney, but they're open. which means that -- which means it shoots in like three days and they're desperate. >> jimmy: yeah. clooney said, "no." okay. >> and, anyway, i took the job, i rehearsed for a couple days. i just was -- it was just terrible. bad idea. at the time i was living in new york and they said, "don't worry about it, you're gonna be great." go back, get your stuff, come back in two weeks and, you know, start shooting. and then i -- as i was leaving the airport i got a call from my agent and my business manager

who i had just started working with. and i said -- "dude, what's up?" he said, "well, how's everything going?" i was like, "you know, they're trying to make me older -- part younger, it's a disaster." he said, "well, something might be up here." and i said, "what?" he's walking down the hall that morning, talking to a colleague -- >> jimmy: another agent. >> another business manager guy. and he says, "how's it going?" and my business manager said, "great, i just signed this guy tim olyphant, and he's in this new movie with sandra bullock." and his college said, "oh, that's great aiden, aidan quinn, my client, he's in that movie." he said, "what's tim playing?" he says, "he plays a sheriff who falls in love with sandra bullock." and he says, "what's aidan doing?" [ light laughter ] he says, "he's playing a sheriff that falls in love with sandra bullock." and then they're like. "is it about -- a movie about two sheriffs?" [ laughter ] which, by the way -- by the way, that would have been a good

movie. >> jimmy: yeah. that's pretty good. >> so he goes, "when did -- when did olyphant get hired?" he goes, "li a week ago." he says, "how about aidan?" he goes, "this morning." [ laughter and ohs ] i tell you thought, i tell you, my agent, god bless him, he hung up the phone and he called the producers of this movie "go" and -- he said "listen" -- [ applause ] thank you, appreciate it. he said, "what's going on? what are you guys -- what's up with that?" they said, "we're about to put out an offer." and he says, "well, tim's schedule may have just cleared up." anyway, i went from one to the other. i didn't even leave my hotel room. >> jimmy: that is fantastic and -- >> i even got my start gift from "practical magic." they were on it in terms of firing me quickly. but, the start gift, they gave -- and i remember coming home from "go" one day shooting and they -- the guys at the front desk said, "we got a gift for you.' and i said, "oh, lovely." and it's a leather binder. it says, "everybody from warner brothers and 'practical magic,' here's to a great shoot." [ light laughter ] i put my "go" script in there. folded it up.
